Breast Lifts Gain Popularity

Posted by administration on June 04, 2014

Sagging breasts are an unfortunate side effect of pregnancy, breastfeeding, significant weight loss, gravity and aging. Although push-up bras and other support undergarments can make the breasts appear more lifted and youthful under clothing, more women are turning to breast lift surgery to restore perkiness to their natural breast tissue. While the overall size of the breasts is not increased, a breast lift in Aurora can help raise a woman’s self-confidence.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) has reported that breast lift surgeries have increased 70% since 2000.

  • 2000: 52,836 breast lift surgeries
  • 2013: 90,006 breast lift surgeries

In contrast, breast augmentation surgery (breast implants) rose 37% over the same timeframe.

  • 2000: 212,500 breast augmentation surgeries
  • 2013: 290,224 breast augmentation surgeries

Breast Test: If you can put a pencil underneath your breast and it stays in place, you are probably experiencing significant breast sagging. The only way to know for sure if a breast lift and/or breast implants in Denver might help you achieve a more pleasing shape to your chest is by scheduling a Cosmetic Consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.

Dr. Serota at Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Center offers free Consultations to determine if you are a good candidate for breast surgery. He will analyze the condition of your breasts, your overall physical health, your lifestyle habits, your expectations and your emotional stability. For example, if you smoke or plan to have additional children in the future, breast surgery should be postponed. Likewise, if you are considering breast surgery to please someone other than yourself, the procedure may not be recommended.

Call 303-367-9000 or visit serotamd.com to schedule your Cosmetic Consultation in Aurora. It’s free and it will help answer all of the questions you have about your breasts.

Rhinoplasty & Voice Changes

Posted by administration on May 28, 2014

Rhinoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure that is performed to change the appearance of a person’s nose. In 2012 there were over 242,000 rhinoplasty procedures performed in the United States, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (the 2013 data is not yet available).

A recent study by researchers at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in Iran has shown that nose surgery patients may experience changes in the sound of their voices, but not changes in speech function. One reason why the frequency and amplitude of the voice may change may be due to the narrowing of the nasal cavity after surgery. According to the researchers, "The changes in surface area of nasal cavity may increase airflow resistance and cause an increase in sound absorption and a decrease in passing sound amplitude.”

If you are considering rhinoplasty, you should be aware of the potential for voice changes after surgery, especially if you rely on your voice for professional reasons. Before undergoing rhinoplasty surgery, discuss the benefits and potential risks of nose surgery with an experienced plastic surgeon. The best way to find out if you are a good candidate for a nose job or if an alternative to rhinoplasty, such as dermal fillers, will give you the results you want is by scheduling a Cosmetic Consultation.

Dr. Serotacan help you determine the best course of action to create the nose you always wanted. Contact Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Center today at 303-367-9000 or serotamd.com to schedule a free Cosmetic Consultation.

Another Use for BOTOX®: Depression?

Posted by administration on May 22, 2014

A new study published in the Journal of Psychiatric Research has shown that BOTOX® injections may help alleviate moderate to severe depression symptoms.

The study included 74 depressed subjects who received a single treatment of BOTOX (onabotulinumtoxinA) injections or a placebo of saline injections. Injections were done in the muscles between the eyebrows. After six weeks, the results showed:

  • Depressive symptoms decreased 47% for the BOTOX treatment group
  • Depressive symptoms decreased 21% for the placebo group

"This research is groundbreaking because it offers those who suffer from depression and their doctors an entirely new approach to treating the condition - one that doesn't conflict with any other treatments," said Dr. Norman E. Rosenthal, MD, Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Georgetown Medical School and co-author of the study.

Dr. Serota at Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Center uses BOTOX routinely to relax the frown line muscles between the eyebrows for his patients. These treatments create a happier-looking appearance for people with deep frown lines. Perhaps the fact that BOTOX injections make it more difficult to frown is what improves depression symptoms. It may be that when you look happy, you are happy.

BOTOX has also been approved by the FDA to treat chronic migraine headaches in adults. This new study shows one more possible use for BOTOX.

Prepare Yourself for a Special Event

Posted by administration on May 14, 2014

Weddings…reunions…barbecues…vacations…

Special events abound during the spring and summer months. Many people take measures to look their very best for special events – they go to the hairdresser, buy new clothing, get their nails done. If you have a special event coming up, and you feel you need a little extra boost to your self-confidence, you might also want to add cosmetic surgery to your To Do list.

Whether you want to look a little younger, create a shapelier silhouette or completely transform your face or body, there are dozens of surgical and non-surgical procedures that can help you achieve the look you want.

Dr. Serota at Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Center provides a full array of cosmetic surgery options, including (but not limited to):

  • Breast enhancement (breast implants, breast lift, breast reduction)
  • BOTOX® injections to relax facial muscles
  • Dermal fillers to add facial volume and/or soften wrinkles
  • Mommy Makeovers (a combination of procedures, such as a tummy tuck, liposuction and breast enhancement)
  • Body contouring
  • Laser peels and laser resurfacing for facial rejuvenation
  • Facelift

It’s important to schedule a Cosmetic Consultation well in advance of any special event you plan to attend. The procedure(s) that you and your doctor determine will produce the results you want may have long recovery times. You want to make sure you allow enough time to heal before the event.

Cosmetic surgery is an investment in you, but before embarking on this path it is important to have realistic expectations for the outcome of your procedure. No cosmetic surgery will completely change your life but it can add a boost of self-confidence to your daily living.

Get your face and body in tip-top shape for your next special event. Contact Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Center to schedule a free Cosmetic Consultation in Aurora at 303-367-9000 or serotamd.com.

Give Mom What She Really Wants

Posted by administration on May 08, 2014

Mother’s Day is May 11, 2014. If you are searching for the perfect gift for Mom, one that will really make a difference in her life, consider plastic surgery.

Let’s face it. Moms work harder than anyone in the family. They are the cooks, the housecleaners, the chauffeurs, the master schedulers, the fashion coordinators, the nurses, the hairstylists, the homework helpers, the storytellers, the playdate organizers, the party planners and often the bread-winners of the household. Wouldn’t it be nice if Mom could handle all of these tasks and still hang on to her femininity and sexuality?

Pregnancy can have long-term effects on a woman’s body: weak abdominal muscles, sagging breasts and stubborn fat deposits. These physical changes can even lead to depression for some Moms. In fact, these physical changes are so common that plastic surgeons like Dr. Serota at Advnaced Cosmetic Surgery Center routinely perform what is now referred to as a Mommy Makeover in Aurora to reverse the effects of pregnancy.

Typically a Mommy Makeover will include several different procedures, such as a tummy tuck, liposuction and breast lift and/or breast implants. The results can be dramatic and they can really make a mom feel like a woman again.

If you have a Super Mom in your life who would like to get her pre-pregnancy body back, contact Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Center today at 303-367-9000 or serotamd.com to schedule a free Cosmetic Consultation for her. Dr. Serota will help identify the sources of frustration, analyze her medical condition and determine which types of procedures might provide a confidence boost. Mommy Makeover financing can also be discussed if necessary.
