Breast Lift Scars

Posted by administration on February 20, 2017

Breast_Lift.jpgIf you are considering breast lift surgery, you may be concerned about what type of scar you may be left with following the procedure. Breast lift surgery requires an incision to be made on the breast and these incisions will result in breast lift scars. In most cases, breast lift scars will eventually fade and the positive aesthetic outcome from the lifted breasts will far surpass the remnants of any scars.

Types of Breast Lift Scars

Breast lift scars come in all sizes and shapes, depending on the breast lift procedure chosen by Dr. Serota. The correct procedure for a woman’s needs is determined by the size, shape and condition of her breasts. The following are the most common breast lift procedures in Denver and information about the types of breast lifts scars to be expected:

Crescent breast lift is most commonly performed in conjunction with an augmentation procedure to raise the nipple to a higher anatomical position. The incision for this procedure is across the top border of the areola.

The Benelli technique uses a full incision around the outer border of the areola. This incision can be done in such a way as to leave only a thin line scar around the nipple, making it barely noticeable.

Vertical breast lift uses a full periareolar incision and a vertical incision from the bottom of the areola to the inframammary fold. The breast is dissected down the middle to achieve tremendous lift effect. Scarring for this procedure will look like a lollipop; a thin line on the lower center of the breast and a full thin scar around the areola.

Full breast lift uses an anchor incision. This technique uses a similar pattern to the vertical technique, with the addition of a long horizontal inframammary incision along the natural breast fold.

For many patients, the benefits of breast lift surgery outweigh the possible scars that will result from the procedure. If you are ready to schedule a breast lift consultation with Dr. Serota, contact Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Center at 303-367-9000 or today.

Cosmetic Surgery Tax Refund

Posted by administration on February 20, 2017

Cosmetic_Surgery.jpgIt’s that time of year again – the W2s are in and people are starting to file their tax returns. Some people dread this season, but tax time doesn't always have to be a downer. In fact, many people get hundreds or thousands of dollars as a refund. For those that are lucky enough to find themselves in this situation, it may be just the right time to get those cosmetic surgery treatments they've been dreaming of.

If you are looking for a way to spend your income tax return that will have a lasting impact on your quality of life, consider cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic surgery can help you look and feel better and its long-lasting results mean that you can get years of positive impact from your investment.

Here are some popular cosmetic surgery options to consider:

Tummy tuck is a great procedure to consider if you are looking for something that gives great, long-lasting results. A tummy tuck can remove excess skin and fat from your abdomen and tighten your abdominal muscles to restore a youthful shape to your tummy that is simply impossible with diet and exercise. With reasonable maintenance, the results from a tummy tuck are essentially permanent.

Liposuction is a procedure that improves the body’s contour by removing excess fat from deposits located between the skin and muscle. The fat cells removed during liposuction can never come back; however, if the patient gains a significant amount of weight, then new fat cells can develop.

A facelift is another good procedure for people looking for long-term improvement that makes a huge impact on self-esteem and quality of life. A facelift can help restore your confidence and youthful energy for years to come.

Breast surgery offers several options including lift, reduction and augmentation. If you feel embarrassed or self-conscious about the size of your breasts, these breast surgery options can help you achieve a shape that enhances the contour of the body and boosts your self-confidence.

If you are considering using your tax refund to pay for cosmetic surgery, please contact Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Center at 303-367-9000 or to schedule your consultation with Dr. Serota. No matter what your budget, Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Center in Denver is ready to help you transform your look and help you feel more confident.

Chin and Neck Liposuction

Posted by administration on February 06, 2017

Chin_and_Neck_Liposuction.jpgA nice profile with a defined jawline is the desirable look for most people. Unfortunately, many of us are born with just a little extra fat under their chin. There is also a tendency to develop excess fat in the neck as we age. Liposuction is commonly used to remove subcutaneous fat from the chin and neck areas and better contour them to the patient’s desired image.

Liposuction of the chin and neck is a minimally invasive surgical procedure designed to contour the neckline and remove excess fat from the area below the chin. Chin and neck liposuction aims at improving the aesthetic appearance by:

  • Removal of excess fatty tissue from the chin and neck
  • Refinement of the jawline
  • Improvement of neck line definition and silhouette

Liposuction is a safe and effective technique for removing fat from the chin, cheeks and jowls. When compared to a facelift, liposuction involves fewer complications, fewer scars, avoids the dangers of general anesthesia, has a more rapid recovery, lower costs and typically gives a more natural appearance.

During your consultation in Denver, Dr. Serota will examine your chin and neck, discuss your goals for cosmetic surgery and then determine if liposuction of these areas is a good fit for you.

This outpatient procedure usually takes between 30-60 minutes to complete. Recovery is generally mild. You may experience a little pain, swelling and bruising which typically last a few days to a week. It's recommended that you take a few days off to rest and recover at home.

If you are concerned about excessive fat or fullness along the chin, neck or jawline, you may be a candidate for chin and neck liposuction. Contact Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Center at 303-367-9000 or to schedule a consultation to see if this procedure is right for you.

Cosmetic Surgery vs. Plastic Surgery

Posted by administration on February 06, 2017

Cosmetic_Surgery.jpgMany people assume that cosmetic surgery and plastic surgery are the same practice, but this is not technically correct. A significant number of plastic surgeons choose to focus their practice on cosmetic surgery, and as such, the terms are often used interchangeably. Cosmetic surgery and plastic surgery are closely related specialties, but they are not the same. Let's take a look at cosmetic surgery vs. plastic surgery:

Cosmetic Surgery: Focused on Enhancing Appearance

Cosmetic surgery is a unique practice of medicine focused on enhancing a patient's appearance through surgical techniques. Improving aesthetic appeal, symmetry and proportion are the key goals. Cosmetic surgery can be performed on all areas of the head, neck and body. Because treated areas function properly but lack aesthetic appeal, cosmetic surgery is elective. Cosmetic surgery is practiced by doctors from a variety of medical fields, including plastic surgeons.

Cosmetic Surgery Procedures Include:

  • Breast Enhancement: Augmentation, Lift, Reduction
  • Facial Contouring: Rhinoplasty, Chin and Cheek Enhancement
  • Facial Rejuvenation: Facelift, Eyelid Lift, Neck Lift, Brow Lift
  • Body Contouring: Tummy Tuck, Liposuction
  • Skin Rejuvenation: Laser Resurfacing, Filler Treatments

Plastic Surgery: Focused on Repairing Defects or Reconstruction

Plastic surgery is defined as a surgical specialty dedicated to reconstruction of facial and body defects due to birth disorders, trauma, burns and disease. Plastic surgery is intended to correct dysfunctional areas of the body. While many plastic surgeons choose to complete additional training and perform cosmetic surgery as well, the basis of their surgical training remains reconstructive plastic surgery.

Plastic Surgery Procedure Examples:

  • Breast Reconstruction
  • Burn Repair Surgery
  • Congenital Defect Repair: Cleft Palate, Extremity Defect Repair
  • Lower Extremity Reconstruction
  • Hand Surgery
  • Scar Revision Surgery

While both cosmetic surgery and plastic surgery deal with improving a patient’s body, the fundamental principles guiding the training, research and goals for patient outcomes are different.
