Blepharoplasty Aftercare Instructions
Blepharoplasty is surgery for correcting defects, deformities and disfigurations of the eyelids. The purpose of blepharoplasty surgery is the restoration of the correct functioning to the affected eyelid(s), and the restoration of the aesthetics of the eye-region of the face.
Blepharoplasty surgery usually requires a couple of hours to complete. Post-operatively, the initial swelling and bruising following the surgery will subside and resolve with 1–2 weeks. The overall improvement in appearance is apparent over several months.
Aftercare instructions are sent home with the patient. Redness and swelling can be expected following the procedure in the area of the surgery and incisions. The eyes may be dry or may tear excessively. Drops will be provided if needed. For the first few days after surgery, the incisions may be tight and will need to be lubricated. Cold compresses can be placed to reduce swelling.
