Enhanced Behinds Are In
Kim Kardashian is changing the shape of American women, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, a trade group that surveyed 901 doctors. Dr. Michael Edwards, the group’s president, said “It is social media and the Kim Kardashians and Jennifer Lopez’s.” The group found a large increase in butt enhancements being performed. The procedure nearly doubled from 2013 to 2014.
"Everywhere you look in the media, butts are in," said Dr. Scott Glasberg, president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
His group's data, extrapolated from surveys of nearly 1,000 doctors, found silicone implants for the butt nearly doubled, to almost 2,000 procedures nationwide between 2013 and 2014. A less invasive operation that transplants fat removed from elsewhere on the body, dubbed the Brazilian, rose 15 percent.
According to the staff at Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Center in Denver, butt enhancements need to be performed by a board-certified surgeon. The procedure has received some negative publicity because of non-medical professionals offering their services (often in foreign countries) and using many types of materials to enhance the rear.
