National Nutrition Month
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has designated March as National Nutrition Month. The 2015 theme is "Bite into a Healthy Lifestyle" to encourage people to achieve and maintain a healthy weight, reduce the risk of chronic disease and promote overall health by:
- Eating fewer calories
- Making smart food choices
- Getting daily exercise
The Academy recommends a minimum of 150 minutes a week of moderately intense physical activity – unless you are incorporating high intensity interval training, which may allow you to exercise for less time with the same benefits. You’ll not only lose weight; exercise may also help you sleep better and reduce stress.
Feeding your body with water and nutritious foods is also important. “Before exercise, look for foods high in carbohydrates, adequate in protein and moderate in fat and fiber, like oatmeal with bananas, almonds and fat-free milk," says registered dietitian nutritionist and Academy Spokesperson Jennifer McDaniel.
Some people who work hard to achieve and maintain a healthy physique decide to complement their efforts through plastic surgery. For example, some women who have lost weight but have also lost fullness in their breasts as a result, elect to have breast implant surgery in Denver to increase their breast size and feel more feminine.
Regardless of which type of surgical procedure you choose, it is important to continue a healthy lifestyle before and after having any type of cosmetic surgery.
So…take time to analyze your own diet and exercise program this March. Just stay away from Cheese Doodle Day on March 5, Corn Dog Day on March 21…but enjoy Spinach Day on March 26!
