Nose Surgery Recovery

Nose_Job_Recovery.jpgNose jobs (rhinoplasty) have long been a popular cosmetic surgical procedure.  Performed on young and old, this procedure goes back many years and can be performed for reconstructive or aesthetic reasons.

A nose job can be performed either with general anesthesia or with local anesthesia and sedatives.  Following surgery, a splint will be taped to the nose to ensure proper alignment and growth of the bone and cartilage.  This is removed after about a week.  Ice packs should be used for the first 48 hours.

The nose will be swollen and bruised.  This diminishes over time although social engagements may be impacted for several months.

The newly sculpted nose will appear over the next several weeks and months.  Often by three months to twelve months the nose heals and the new appearance becomes apparent.
