If you are considering rhinoplasty (a nose job), you may not have realized that you will usually come out of the procedure with a cast.
A rhinoplasty cast is typically a small aluminum frame applied after your procedure is completed. You will go home wearing this cast and it will be removed anywhere from a couple of days to a week (or more) afterwards depending on the surgeon, procedure and other factors. The rhinoplasty cast comes off easily and it is not usually painful to remove it.
Due to swelling from the surgery, your nasal passages may be partially or completely blocked. Keeping your head elevated will help with this. There are often other instructions that patients must follow after a nose job, such as taping, and your surgeon will provide detailed instructions on what to expect during the recovery process.
