Scars after Otoplasty

Otoplasty_Scars.jpgAre you considering otoplasty for yourself or one of your children?  If so, you may be concerned about otoplasty scars.

Otoplasty scars can be minimized by closely following your aftercare instructions.  These include wearing the appropriate bandages, using warm compresses and the use of an anti-inflammatory medication called Kenalog (if needed).

Although some scarring is normal, the benefits of otoplasty, which corrects a deformity of the ear, are considered to outweigh any scarring concerns.   Should abnormal scar tissue form, this can usually be corrected through additional surgery once healing is complete, typically in about six months.
