A Cornell University study conducted over a two year period showed that people who track their weight not only lost weight but also kept it off.  The study was published in the Journal of Obesity.

According to the study, participants who tracked their weight were also able to maintain their weight loss into the second year.  This is important because many people regain weight using other weight loss methods.  Conventional thinking had been that people should not weigh themselves every day when trying to lose weight.
