Tumescent Liposuction

Liposuction.jpgThis technique eliminates the need for general anesthesia or IV narcotics and sedatives. Instead local anesthesia is used for large volumes of subcutaneous fat. Then Dr. Serota injects extremely diluted lidocaine and epinephrine into the fat. This causes the fat tissue to become swollen and firm, otherwise known as tumescent. This technique also constricts the capillaries and prevents surgical blood loss. The tumescent fat can then be suctioned out of the body.

Another benefit of tumescent liposuction is a less painful and more pleasant experience. This is due to the anesthesia lasting longer after surgery than an IV sedation or general anesthesia. You can avoid the post-operative nausea that’s associated with general anesthesia.

Dr. Serota at Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Center has helped hundreds of men and women improve their appearance through liposuction. For more detailed information about this procedure or to schedule a liposuction consultation, visit serotamd.com or call 303-367-9000.
