Wearing Make-up After Laser Skin Resurfacing

Posted by administration on January 22, 2014

Many cosmetic patients want to know when they can start wearing make-up after laser skin resurfacing. The general rule for most patients is that you should not wear make-up for at least one week after treatment. Because this very effective treatment actually removes the outer layers of skin, the effect is much like a second degree burn. Your face will need time to heal and re-grow new healthy skin.

Your doctor will give you specific instructions on how to clean and moisturize the treated areas. You should follow these instructions exactly to promote proper healing.

After the one week mark, you should ask your doctor if you can start applying minimal oil-free make-up. Don’t assume you can start wearing make-up; always check with your doctor first.

So if you are planning to have a laser skin resurfacing procedure, keep in mind that you can’t rush the healing process. If you are having this procedure done to prepare for a special event, be sure to plan enough healing time so you can look your very best for the event.
